Developing direction
Building websites for small businesses
I don’t believe great websites come from templates alone, they come from understanding people.
My background
I’ve been building websites, and helping businesses grow online, for nearly three decades, but my journey hasn’t been a straight line, and that’s very much by design.
My career began in an IT company specialising in business software, where I studied Computer Science with the Open University while working full-time. As the company grew, so did its online presence, and I naturally gravitated towards their website and search engine optimisation. What started as a practical necessity quickly became something I genuinely loved, translating complex businesses into clear, effective online spaces that actually worked for the people behind them.
That passion eventually led me to start my own web design agency in Wiltshire, which I ran successfully for almost 15 years. During that time, I worked closely with small businesses across a range of industries, designing websites that supported real-world goals, attracting the right customers, building credibility, and making day-to-day life a little easier for business owners.
“Owning a gym was a diversion from my career path that I hadn’t envisaged but I learnt so much from the change in direction and will never regret the experience!”
Following the Diversion
Alongside the agency, I took on a local health and fitness business, Inspire Fitness. Health had always been a personal passion of mine, and the intention was for it to sit quietly in the background as a second business. In reality, like many business purchases, it came with a few unexpected challenges, particularly around staffing, which meant I needed to be far more hands-on than planned.
That decision led me to temporarily scale back the web agency to working with family and friends only, while I poured my time and energy into the gym. What followed were 13 busy, brilliant years of running, growing, and eventually selling Inspire Fitness, years that taught me far more about small business realities than any textbook ever could.
When the opportunity came to sell the business and fulfil our long-held dream of moving to Pembrokeshire, it felt like the perfect moment to come full circle. Today, I’m back to building websites full-time, bringing together nearly 30 years of technical experience with first-hand knowledge of what it’s really like to run a small business.
I understand the juggling act, the budget worries, the time pressures, and the need for a website that does its job without becoming another thing on your to-do list. That understanding shapes everything I do at Green Path Digital.
How I Work
When we work together, I like to start by getting to know you and your business properly.
That means a conversation, preferably in person, where we talk about what you do, who you want to reach, and what you’d like your website to achieve for you. Whether that’s generating enquiries, selling products, building trust, or simply making your business look as professional as it truly is.
I’ll ask questions, listen carefully, and translate what you tell me into a clear plan for your website. No jargon, no upselling services you don’t need, and no disappearing once the site is live.
Because I’ve run my own businesses for nearly 30 years, I design websites with practicality in mind. They’re built to grow with you, to be easy to manage, and to support your wider business goals, not just look nice on launch day.
You’ll always deal directly with me, from our first conversation through to launch and beyond. I value clear communication, honest advice, and long-term relationships, and I take real pride in helping small businesses feel confident about their online presence.
If that sounds like the kind of support you’re looking for, I’d love to chat.
Why Green Path Digital?
Green Path Digital was created with one clear aim, to give small businesses a straightforward, supportive route to a strong online presence.
I know from experience that running a small business means wearing a lot of hats. You don’t need complicated processes, confusing tech jargon, or to feel like just another project on an agency’s list. You need someone who understands your business, listens to what you want to achieve, and builds a website that genuinely supports you.
The name Green Path Digital reflects how I like to work. Clear, calm, and considered. No rushing you down a route that doesn’t feel right, no pressure to invest in things you don’t need yet. Just steady, practical guidance, helping you move forward at a pace that suits your business
Because I’ve run my own businesses for nearly 30 years, I bring more than technical skill. I bring perspective. I understand budgets, time constraints, and the importance of making decisions that actually make sense for where you are right now.
When you choose Green Path Digital, you’re choosing:
-
Personal, one-to-one support from someone who takes the time to understand your business
-
